The reverse side of the moon or why the germ died

Dear friends, some information on the biological experiment on the far side of the moon ‘Chang’e-4’

On January 15, the Xinhua news agency gave a press release that all living organisms would die during the moonlit night. Moonlight night lasts 354 Earth hours, about 15 days. At this time, the lunar soil freezes to an average of −170 ° C. This is due to the long duration of the night, the nature of the underlying surface and the absence of an atmosphere that could hold heat.

The light inside the container came through light guides; the container contained water, soil, air, two microcameras, and a heat control system. To ensure a temperature difference comfortable for plants, Chang’e-4 would have to bring at least a portable nuclear reactor and a complicated thermoregulation system to the Moon in order to control a constant temperature.

So far, these are timid steps in creating an ecosystem on the surface of another planet, which will provide data on the influence of lunar gravity and radiation on the process of seed emergence from the Earth. Such experiments (successful) have long been carried out on the ISS in zero gravity.

There were a lot of results in the course of the experiment, mostly negative ones. Most plants germinate well, but not as large as the scientists expected to reach the next seed. Even with shielding (container walls), the plants are still under the influence of strong cosmic radiation – at least ten times stronger than on the surface of the Earth in natural conditions.

Of course, the sprout died, but it does not matter. The vector is clearly marked: the fallen banner of those who dreamed of planting an apple tree on Mars has been picked up. Who knows, suddenly the author of a well-known work of rights, and our goal, as intelligent beings, is to spread life in the universe by any improvised means? And that if we do not strive for this goal, then we will write off in junk.
